About the Author
Carole Jevons is a former preschool teacher, childcare provider, and mother of three, with a lifelong love for nurturing young children’s curiosity and creativity. What Does Miss Sue Do? was born from a simple but surprising moment: while teaching preschool, Carole often ran into her students at the park or grocery store in her neighborhood—and they didn’t quite know what to make of it. Some would shyly hide behind their parents, unsure why their teacher wasn’t in the classroom where she “belonged.” It was then she realized that young children often imagine their teachers live at school.
This sweet and relatable book grew from those moments—written to gently help children understand that teachers have lives outside the classroom, and that they enjoy many of the same joyful summer experiences. Through Miss Sue’s adventures, Carole hopes to bring comfort, connection, and a sense of wonder to little readers everywhere.
